What’s the Opportunity?
Our client is seeking a skilled Kubernetes Platform Engineer to join a high-performance engineering team. In this role, you will leverage your deep understanding of platform engineering, Kubernetes, and multi-cluster environments to support and optimize the infrastructure that powers mission-critical applications. You’ll collaborate with internal teams to enhance infrastructure performance and streamline Kubernetes cluster management.
What Will You Do?
Platform Engineering & Multi-Cluster Management
Manage and optimize multi-cluster environments, ensuring efficient performance across all platforms
Support and maintain Kubernetes clusters, ensuring availability and scalability
Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, including deployment, scaling, and performance optimization
Create, modify, and maintain Helm charts to support Kubernetes deployments and configurations
Infrastructure Automation & Deployment
Automate cluster provisioning using GitOps and streamline infrastructure deployment pipelines
Work with CTB teams to roll out additional Kubernetes clusters, ensuring consistency and performance optimization
Utilize tools like kubectl commands, Helm templates, and YAML files to manage configurations across clusters
Technical Expertise & Issue Resolution
Diagnose and resolve issues related to SSL/TLS, Ingress, Load Balancer configurations, and Kubernetes internals
Manage Persistent Volumes (PVs), Persistent Volume Claims (PVCs), and integrate with S3/NAS/SAN storage solutions
Collaborate with internal teams to implement infrastructure improvements and ensure robust, scalable solutions
Stay on top of evolving technologies and apply best practices to enhance platform performance
What Do You Need to Succeed?
Basic Qualifications
8-12 years of experience in platform engineering and Kubernetes management
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes internals, Pods/Containers, and multi-cluster management
Proficient in Helm charts, including creating, modifying, and managing templates
Hands-on experience with YAML configuration files, Kubernetes deployments, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Expertise in Linux/Unix systems, shell scripting, and using Git for version control
Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex infrastructure issues, including SSL/TLS, Load Balancer, and storage configurations
Additional Required Skills
Experience with automation and deployment pipelines, particularly in cloud environments
Strong understanding of containerization, Kubernetes Pods, Zookeeper, and device mounts
Comfortable with infrastructure automation, using tools like GitOps and Helm for deployment management
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve platform-related issues
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, including infrastructure provisioning and management
Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana and Elastic for system performance tracking
Familiarity with SQL queries for database management and optimization
Exposure to containerized applications and databases in cloud environments
Key Relationships & Impact
Collaborate with the CTB team and other internal stakeholders to ensure smooth Kubernetes cluster operations and performance optimization
Work closely with other infrastructure teams to troubleshoot, resolve, and enhance technical solutions
Act as a technical expert for Kubernetes-related infrastructure initiatives, ensuring high levels of operational excellence
What’s the Working Environment?
This is a hybrid role based in Halifax with 2-3 days working from the office per week
